Glamping in Somerset – Holidays for the whole family
Kittisford Barton is set amongst the stunning scenery of Somerset, just half an hour west of Taunton. Though surrounded by unspoilt countryside, the site is just 10 minutes from junction 26 of the M5, making it easily accessible and well located for local amenities.
If you fancy a little bit of downtime, each of our safari tents has a two two-person hot tub for your exclusive use located next to your tent. These are the perfect opportunity to relax and enjoy the morning birdsong to views of the wildflower meadow. Or experience the wonderfully starlit night's sky whilst you soak in the comfort of your own secluded haven. (Additional charges apply for use of the hot tub)
Lantern & Larks have chosen this secluded spot on the Somerset-Devon border as one that oozes peace and tranquillity. With the Blackdown Hills AONB creating an incredible backdrop, Kittisford Barton is spoilt for choice when it comes to country walks and patchwork scenery. The organic farm alone is 260 acres of ponds, woodlands, fields and trails for keen adventurers to wander. Guests to the site will be able to see the farm's animal inhabitants, meet the friendly goats or collect eggs from the chickens that live in the orchard – a firm favourite with all ages!
Why choose Kittisford Barton?
The Lantern & Larks experience of glamping provides you with a gentle balance between a cool camping in Somerset coast and all the modern comforts. At Kittisford Barton you will hear silence like you have never heard it and experience peace and tranquillity in such a way that avoiding the sense of relaxation will be impossible. Our low pitch numbers and generous spacing between tents provides a genuine sense of exclusivity and luxury. We have no electricity at our sites which our guests say is the key catalyst behind memories they make and time they enjoy in each other's company. You can experience this too.
Further afield there is even more on offer. Grab a map of the local area provided on site and venture into the countryside. You are in a prime position for spotting local wildlife, so keep your eyes peeled for deer and an endless supply of birdlife. Join one of the many walking routes crisscrossing the Blackdown Hills and immerse yourself in the wooded valleys or riverside scenery. An ongoing programme of events means there is always something going on to take your fancy.
From Kittisford Barton you can easily explore the coastal areas of Devon and Somerset. Within an hour from your base you will find the golden sands of family-friendly Minehead or the saltmarshes of Bridgwater Bay National Nature Reserve, a haven for waders and waterfowl located at the mouth of the River Parrett. The south coast offers Sidmouth's popular sandy beach and the famous coastal town of Lyme Regis which is loved for its stunning location amongst the iconic Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.
You won't be short of places to visit. Somerset is a haven for gentle country walks, quiet evenings and peaceful wildlife, but you're never too far from civilisation either. If you fancy getting back to the city for a while Taunton and Exeter are both an easy drive away and offer a fantastic range of retail centres, independent shops, supermarkets, pubs, restaurants and attractions. Staying closer to home you will also find a handful of towns and villages to explore such as Appley and Wiveliscombe, so if you need to grab a few essentials, you needn't worry!
From our glamping Somerset site you can also reach Exmoor, Brean and Weston Super Mare. If you’re interested in local history then Bath is reachable by car and you can pay a visit to in infamous Cheddar Gorge which is also nearby.

Why not bring the whole family for your weekend or week break glamping? Lantern and Larks offer dog friendly sites including Kittisford Barton. As well as on the grounds our tents are dog friendly. However, we do ask care is taken in consideration of local wildlife, goats, hens and other families that are enjoying a family break glamping too!
